The story of Il Gergo begins with Vittorio Spernanzoni, who, from a young age, learned the craft of shoemaking in the small workshops of the province, in difficult years yet filled with a drive toward perfection. In the 1960s, that artisanal knowledge became a small workshop, with shoes entirely handmade, carefully chosen leathers, and stitches designed to stand the test of time. Assembly, Goodyear Welted stitching, sole attachment, finishing, and refinements: these phases are orchestrated like a symphony, each artisan with a precise role, every movement calculated, every gesture deliberate. When the upper and insole are sewn together with the welt, a cork filling is placed between them: this natural material, light yet strong, capable of adapting over time, becomes the invisible soul of the shoe.
